I'm not sure if I ever shared what I was doing to get out of debt.
I am a Dave Ramsey podcast listener. It gives me so much motivation and determination to stay resilient against temptation. I work for 8 hours all day on a computer. Online shopping was a big weakness. Listening to Dave Ramsey helps with my will power throughout the day.
I have listened to (audio book) The Total Money Makeover and Financial Peace Revisited. I have watched some YouTube videos of other people following Dave Ramsey and got some ideas about my Cash Envelope system. The Cash Envelope system has helped IMMENSELY with my spending. I would ALWAYS overspend what I had planned at the grocery store...but it was easy to just swipe my debit card and not worry about it, Now I have a set budget for every 2 weeks. I have a weekly limit if I want to get food for the next week. I also have envelopes for personal care, bunny care (we have 6!), dining out (this no longer exists with my spending fast) and some fun money (also does not exist). I made little dividers for my wallet and I keep the bills separated.
I have my excel budget with my monthly budget tab (what bills I have are listed here for a general overview), I also have a tab for my Paychecks, I budget each upcoming paycheck for the next six months. This is where I keep track of my debt snowball and what bills are coming out of what paycheck. I also plan my family member's birthdays so that I know to set aside some funds for their gifts. This has helped A LOT! If there is any kind of budget I recommend, it would be to track your bills per your paycheck!
I also write down a lot of stuff in my notebook. I take notes if a check I wrote is going to get cashed or if I have a subscription service coming out. I am an die-hard paper planner girl. I keep track of all my bills in my planner and add any extra expense that I may need to add to my electronic excel budget.
And that's it. Dave Ramsey has taken over m life and I cannot stop talking about money. Instead of driving my family bonkers with my rants, I started a blog ;)
